All items are made from native Vermont white cedar. Most of the wood comes from local log mills that produce cedar logs. These cedar logs are used in the construction of rustic log homes. The mill cuts the logs to specific lengths, and what is left over is of no use to them. However, these odd "left-overs" are exactly the right size for the items the two Papas make! The log mills are happy to sell these pieces to them, which means less waste and a productive use for the entire cedar tree.

Papas' Wood Crafts is a company that produces the most unique wooden bird-related products on the market. No two birdhouses or feeders are exactly alike. Chain saws are used to sculpt the exterior of each solid white cedar wood piece. Then the nesting area is bored out to a depth of seven to eight inches with a self-feeding bit of just under 4 inches in diameter. The base of the birdhouse can be removed for cleaning each season. The homes and feeders are then treated with a natural tone CWF-UV wood finish to help preserve the finished product.

Each birdhouse and feeder is crafted with an eye to the grain in the wood, and the skill of the chain saw operator to produce these unique pieces.
